CBT

WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE? If you have limited or no experience on a motorbike and really want to maximise your chances of passing your CBT on the day, you might want to consider doing a Taster session? This will cost £60 for an hour where you work more personally with an instructor with a maximum of 2 students without the pressure of having to do any CBT exercises straight away. See the video below for an example of a taster session in action.

The CBT Course is a programme of instruction, safe practice and assessment for new riders wanting to ride a scooter or geared motorcycle. It is the first step to two wheels and must, by law, be taken by any new rider before they ride on the road using 'L' plates.

You have to be at least 16 years old to ride a 49 cc machine and 17 years old to ride a 125 cc scooter/motorcycle. Don't worry if you have never ridden before as the CBT course is aimed at complete novices with no experience at all.

We will take you through all elements of the course at your own pace; there is no test at the end of the course! Usually a CBT course will take a full day; however the pace is set by the ability of the student so it could take less time, on the other hand it could take more - the focus on the course is to get you on the road safely, confidently and knowledgably. Regarding motorbike control, should you fail to consistently reach the required safety standards that enables you to continue to the road ride element of the CBT by 1pm you will forfeit the remaining time allocated to the course. You will be invited back to complete another full day CBT at additional cost.

You will need your photo card driving licence/provisional licence AND a printout or screenshot of your driver record which can be found via the direct.gov website Wear suitable clothing (we can provide helmets, jackets, gloves and waterproofs), bring a packed lunch and you will need a basic understanding of the Highway Code and road signs.

Training starts at 8.00am for CBT (unless specified otherwise during booking)

Note - we lock the centre at 8.15am to commence training! In this event you could lose your Training Fee.
