TASTER SESSIONS
If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to ride a motorbike, our RJH Taster Sessions are the perfect place to start. Designed for complete beginners, these 90 minute to 3 hour sessions give you a safe, supportive and exciting introduction to life on two wheels.
Whatever your level, our friendly, professional instructors are here to guide you every step of the way.
Before you get started, one of our qualified instructors will give you a full briefing and provide all the necessary safety equipment, including a helmet, gloves and jacket. You’ll then be introduced to your bike – either a 125cc motorbike or a 50cc scooter, depending on what you’d like to try. The session takes place in a secure, off-road training area, where you can relax and focus on learning at your own pace.
LEARN THE BASICS
During your taster, your instructor will guide you through the fundamentals of riding, including: understanding basic controls, moving off and stopping safely, practising slow control, changing gears with confidence.
NEXT STEPS
If you enjoy riding, after this session, and you've mastered the basics, speak to our dedicated booking team who can talk you through the next steps on your 2-wheel adventure. Depending on your goal you can go on to complete a CBT or a Full Licence course.
ENTERING THE WORLD OF MOTORBIKES
Whether you choose to complete Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) or work towards a Full Licence our trusted instructors are here for you. We’ll also offer honest advice on choosing your first motorbike or scooter - from what size might suit your needs, to what to look for when buying.
And if you decide riding isn’t for you? That’s absolutely fine.

I recently did my CBT at the Eccles training centre in Manchester with J. Houghton. I can't thank him enough, his training was genuinely excellent and very thorough, and by the end of it I was a much more confident rider and competent rider. He literally covered everything and didn't cut any corners and seemed to take pride in his work. Most of all he was very patient, never lost his temper or seemed irritated even if I kept doing things wrong. When I started the session I felt quite nervous and was dreading it slightly, by the end of it I couldn't wait to get back out on the road. I highly recommend RJH motorcycle training and JJ Houghton.Posted on Google Chris Kirkham27/07/2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Blooming brilliant - I did a few taster sessions and just got my CBT. I'm definitely not a natural at riding, far from it, but I've really enjoyed the journey so far and the team have been amazing. All the instructors were lovely but particularly massive thanks to Jonny who took several of my lessons and is a fantastic instructor and has the patience of a saint. He clocked that I was tense and that I am an overthinker and he was very supportive and kind, helped me have a laugh and chill out, flagged up when I was starting to get tense again, and explained everything really clearly. Emma and Mark in the office have been super brill on the admin support side too (great for those of us with ADHD). Thanks so much, everyone!Posted on Google Vicky Lynch17/07/2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I started my DSA course at RJH Motorbike training with no bike experience whatsoever, The instructors all the way through the course were more like coaches than teachers, passing on their knowledge and encouragement, which enabled me to pass the tests with confidence.. Many thanks to all at RJH for getting me on the road.
